  Do not shop at this consignment store on State Street in Santa Barbara. I purchased a purse thinking it was vintage since the design was a vintage style. The clerk didn't know and couldn't tell me anything about the bag. Once home, I was able to read the name of the designer under more direct light. I looked up the make "Urban Experience" and to my surprise I saw my exact purse, immediately available from Urban Experience and several other webstores in a multitude of colors for half the price that I paid for it at Renaissance Consignment. I called the store phone number on my receipt for a week and the line was always busy.....I assumed off the hook because I called at all different times of the working day. I also sent two emails asking for help and some recourse. Nothing. Finally after ten days I called the Renaissance Consignment Shop in Sacramento. The buyer there was appalled that not enough research was done on this item before pricing and assured me that the store would make good, whatever I wanted. I asked for only the difference in price between what they priced the purse at and what I saw listed at multiple sites. Then the Santa Barbara store called me and they reassured me that they will take care of this discrepancy and that the bookkeeper would call the next day to make the refund. When I didn't hear back in two more days, I called the Santa Barbara store again. Then they told me that consignment is consignment and since I liked the purse when I bought it, they will not issue any kind of refund. (Actually I was bothered by the pricing even though I did make the purchase which is why I then looked up more information once I returned home.) I love to shop at consignment shops and I've never had this happen before. So buyers beware and take your phone and look up prices before you make a major purchase because stores like Renaissance Consignment do not treat their customers with respect and could care less if their customer is satisfied.
